As part of celebrating the 25th anniversary of the convention on the rights of the child ratified by the General Assembly on November 20, 1989, UNICEF has enlisted the help of a number of music stars across the globe.
The event is scheduled to hold today, November 20, 2014 with great performances by renowned stars and Mavin boss, Don Jazzy has just announced that he’ll be part of the performers at the event.
‘Imagine’ is a song written and performed by renowned English musician, with lyrics encouraging listeners to imagine a world at peace without the barriers of borders or the divisiveness of religions and nationalities.
The song is the anchor of the event this year and performers are to record versions of the classic for a downloadable #IMAGINE app that will allow aspiring interpreters to record their own video versions of the song, singing to the Lennon original, or any of the covers.
Don Jazzy joins the likes of Katy Perry, Will.i.am, Angelique Kidjo, Daniela Mercury, Priyanka Chopra and Idris Elba at the United Nations headquarters and the Mavin boss shared pictures of himself at the UN headquarters on his Instagram page to announce his participation.
Don Jazzy wrote on his Twitter timeline: ‘Rehearsal at the UN-GA for the UNICEF #Imagine campaign event tomorrow. Beautiful venue. Would be performing alongside some great world musicians at the UN-GA tomorrow, for the UNICEF #Imagine campaign.’
