8 Signs That You May Have A Parasite

This is surely a subject that will make a lot of people somewhat uncomfortable, and may even cause a few people to feel “grossed out.” We don’t like the idea of some nasty-looking creature setting up shop somewhere inside of us and feasting on whatever it is we eat, or even making a meal on our body parts! There are numerous parasites in the world that will gladly take up residence in a human body and stay for as long as they are able. Luckily, there are effective treatments for most parasites, and they are easily eliminated. Some, however, are no so willing to go, and could be extremely hazardous to your health. These 8 signs could mean you have a parasite inside of you.

1. Digestive Disorders:
There are numerous causes for digestive disorders such as gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome, and having these kinds of problems is no reason to run screaming to your doctor about parasites. On the other hand symptoms like this, combined with some of the others here, could be cause for concern.

2. Travel Trouble:
If you traveled to another country, particularly an undeveloped country, and you recall having a bout of diarrhea while you were there, it could be an indication that you contracted some type of parasite.

3. Sleep:
There are certain parasitic infestations that can disrupt your sleep, and could cause problems trying to go to sleep at night as well as increased instances of waking up during the night.

4. Skin Problems:
Parasites can become evident due to disruptions in the skin, which may include burning, itching, rash, hives, rosacea, eczema or even open sores.

5. Teeth Grinding:
This is a symptom that usually happens during sleep, so it is quite possible that the person who is infected will not even realize it is happening. Oftentimes it is someone else who shares the same bed who happens to notice that someone is grinding their teeth in their sleep.

6. Aches and Pains:
There are numerous reasons that parasites can cause discomfort in the muscles and joints. The pain may be intermittent or it may be constant, depending on the type of parasite involved and the severity of the infection.

7. Mental Health:
As we now know, our physical and mental health are closely intertwined. Parasitic infection can trigger emotional symptoms such as depression or feelings of apathy. Physically, it is possible that it can also cause exhaustion and fatigue.

8. Always Hungry:
Parasites like tapeworms will normally stay in the digestive tract for long periods of time while absorbing nourishment from the food a person eats. In a severe infection, this could actually cause a person to feel less full after eating, or to end up feeling hungry soon after a meal.
